I am sharing a timeline of the week leading to Easter Sunday – the resurrection of Jesus.

Matthew 26-28

Monday

Tuesday 

Jesus leaves Bethany Matthew 21:18

Finds the fig tree withered; teaches on faith Mark 11:20; Matt 21:18-22

Leaves city; Olivet Discourse (teaching in the Mount of Olives) on the way back to Bethany John 12:20;  Matthew 24:1–25:46

Judas bargains with Sanhedrin to betray Jesus Spends the night in Bethany

Wednesday 

Silent day no record in the Gospels, but much activity as Jesus prepares for Last Supper and as Judas and Sanhedrin prepare for Jesus’ arrest Remains in Bethany throughout the day, and Jesus stays the night there

Thursday           Read Matthew 26

Peter and John sent to make preparation for Passover meal Matthew 26:1

After sunset, eats meal with the twelve; washes disciples; Judas departs Mark 14:1

Peter betrays Jesus

  2. The conspiracy to deny the truth of Jesus’ resurrection (28:11–15)

  3. The risen Jesus’ Great Commission in Galilee (28:16–20)
